Decorative Candles

Candles are always a perfect gift. There are many different types of decorative candles on the market. There are major retailers that have created their empires on the love of decorative scented candles. Men and women roam the aisles of the store smelling one and then the other, many times unable to decide which the prefer, and almost always taking more than one home. Every year decorative scented candles come in even more fragrances then the year before.

Candles can be made from a variety of ingredients. Most scented candles on the market are constructed from paraffin wax, but you may also find those made from beeswax, soy, gel and even tallow. They are produced in various shapes, colors, scents and sizes. They are only limited by the imagination of the Chandelier, or the one who makes the candles. The more decorative candles will many times contain other types of elements or decorations within the wax.

Decorative Candle Making

Candles construction and production can be pretty simplistic. It has been around for hundreds of years out of necessity, but has been enjoyed as a hobby by families at home. It does not require any elaborate equipment. The production of candles consist of the liquefaction of whichever solid fuel that you have choose to use. Many times it will be the wax. It is then poured into some type of mold. The mold will determine the size of the candle. A wick will be added to the liquid while it is still hot to ensure that it is encased in the liquid when it cools. If you are creating decorative scented candles, then some type of fragrance or essential oils will be added prior to the liquid being poured into the mold. Color can also be added to decorative candles during the process as well.

Different waxes burn cleaner than others. For example beeswax burns better and releases less chemicals than paraffin. The type of wick used and scents and dyes also play a contributing role in how cleanly a candle burns. A candle wick that is trimmed will burn cleaner than one that has not been trimmed, and in earlier times a wick trimmer was designed just for this purpose. Whatever your choice, you are sure to enjoy the look and smell of your decorative candle.
